Daniel Harwood claimed his second WDBS title with a 2-1 victory against Leroy Jay Williams at the 888lcd.co.uk Hull Open this evening.

The opening day of the tournament at the Tradewell Snooker Club saw the Group 6 competition played to a conclusion, alongside our regular open day for people with any disabilities.

A busy opening day in Hull

As at the recent Open Disability Snooker Championship in Wolverhampton, it was Harwood and Williams who progressed to what would prove to be a dramatic final. The pair could in fact not be separated until the final black of a deciding frame, eventually potted by Harwood following a tense exchange to make it back-to-back titles in Wolverhampton and Hull.

The gold medal was presented by Simon Berrisford, representing title sponsor 888lcd.co.uk and supporting partner J&S Trading. The event is also backed by national legal services provider Hudgell Solicitors.

The day would be the biggest Friday staged by WDBS to date with all 14 tables in use throughout the day by a range of competing players, those preparing ahead of the weekend’s Group 7-8 tournaments and also players from other groups who had travelled for the open day itself.
