Shabir Ahmed is the most successful Group 8 (Hearing Impairments) player on the WDBS scene with six main event titles currently on his CV.
Ahmed announced himself as a tournament winner at the 2017 Paul Hunter Disability Classic in Derby. However, it was 2018 when the left-handed Blackburn based star really imposed himself on the circuit, registering a dominating sequence of results. He reached the final of all five Group 8 events that year, winning four of them at the UK Open, Paul Hunter Disability Classic, Fizz Open Disability Snooker Championship and the Hull Open. He was only denied a clean sweep when narrowly losing to Lewis Knowles in the final of the inaugural Champion of Champions.
More silverware has come in 2019 with victory at the Southern Classic and a runners-up finish at the Derby Open. In summary, Ahmed has at least appeared in the final of the last seven Hearing Impairment specific events.
A Manchester United fan, Ahmed is coached by Chris Henry.
