World Disability Billiards and Snooker (WDBS) is today pleased to announce the staging of the inaugural J&S Trading Northern Classic, to be held for the first time in Preston, Lancashire.

The event is set to be the first WDBS competition of the new year and will run from from 2-4 February 2018 at the Elite Snooker Club, which has operated for over 30 years and is currently owned by former professionals Chris Norbury and Shokat Ali. The club is home to 15 full-size snooker tables, including one STAR table and is fully accessible.

Once again, St Helens based J&S Trading will be the title sponsor of the event, having previously backed this year’s Manchester Classic and continued to support all subsequent WDBS events in 2017.

J&S Trading is a company based in St Helens that specialises in recycling mobile phone parts and accessories. Operating for over 20 years, the business has worked with many international, national and local repair centres offering an outstanding service for its trade clients from small retail shops to multinational businesses repairing devices directly for the mobile networks. J&S is currently thriving in the buyback broken LCD market within the UK and Europe, recycling over 250,000 pcs per annum.

Prize money will be offered across all competitions.

Group 1-5 Tournament

The main two-day tournament during the weekend will be open to players with physical disabilities (WDBS classification groups 1-5) as the tournament effectively takes the slot of the Manchester Classic in the calendar.

As at previous Group 1-5 events, subject to entries we anticipate that the groups will be split into three tournaments (Groups 1-2, 3 and 4-5).

Group 6 Tournament

In addition to the weekend event, a Friday tournament will also be staged for people with learning disabilities (Group 6).

Open Day

The weekend will begin with a Friday open day, at which people from ALL EIGHT disability classification groups are encouraged to attend and try snooker in a relaxed environment.

With free practice and coaching available from accredited WPBSA World Snooker coaches, we welcome people of any level of snooker experience to come and see what WDBS events are all about.
