World Disability Billiards and Snooker (WDBS) has today announced an innovative new sponsorship deal with independent renewable energy company Go Green Energy for the 2018/19 season.

Logo of Go Green EnergyBeginning with the WDBS Welsh Open in June, each Friday open day staged by WDBS will now incorporate a new ‘Coaching Zone’ at which people with disabilities can receive advice and guidance from a WPBSA World Snooker coach. To be sponsored by Go Green Energy, the designated area will be open not only to regular WDBS players, but also newcomers and local community groups to participate in snooker.

As well as engaging with local players, WDBS aspires to utilise accredited local coaches at each event who will potentially be able to support ongoing coaching delivery in the area and with participants on the day. WDBS welcomes any contact from proactive coaches who are interested in working at the Coaching Zone.

Based in Tamworth, independent renewal able energy company Go Green Energy has existed since 2011 and aims to reduce energy bills for their clients by 50%-90%. This is achieved through the installation of a wide range of solar energy products including battery storage systems.

Go Green Energy became involved with WDBS through regular player Daniel Blunn, who works for the company full-time when away from the baize.

Craig Siviter, Go Green Energy said: “Since I first heard of about WDBS through Daniel I have heard nothing but good things about the organisation and it was inspiring to witness the experience first-hand when I travelled with Daniel to the recent Belgian Open in Bruges. We are only too pleased to be able to work with WDBS to be able to provide further opportunities for people with disabilities to improve their game.”

Simon Berrisford, WDBS Vice-Chairman said: “We are pleased to join forces with Go Green Energy for the launch of the WDBS Coaching Zone. Like WDBS, Go Green Energy is a forward-thinking company and with their support we will be able to provide even greater, more structured support to people with disabilities who want to play snooker.”
