World Disability Billiards and Snooker (WDBS) has today announced the return of the Welsh Open which will run from 12-14 August 2022 at Redz Snooker Club, Cwmbran.

Previously staged from 2017-2019, the popular tournament will once again be staged with its unique 6-Red format which will see players from all classification groups compete together for the title.

Won by Daniel Blunn (Group 4), Daniel Lee (Group 2) and Nick Neale (Group 7), the event is also set to again include a mixed classification doubles Challenge Cup tournament for players who do not qualify for the final day.

Since the event was first staged, Redz has invested significantly in its facilities, to include the installation of wheelchair accessible toilet facilities and modern lighting blocks, important for players with visual disabilities. Supported by WDBS, it was announced in 2019 prior to the coronavirus pandemic that the Welsh Open would continue to be held at the venue for at least five years.

As in previous years, the event will begin with a Friday Open Day, to be followed by a planned two-day competitive tournament which saw as many as 55 players compete in 2018.
