A Head of Disability Sport at Sport England, Whitaker is a passionate snooker fan who has worked closely with Sport for Confidence and the WPBSA in the launch of the sport’s Therapeutic Guide to Snooker last year.

Among his current responsibilities, Whitaker plays a significant role in disability strategy and funding with Sport England and has previously worked as Partnerships Manager at Activity Alliance, with whom WDBS already has a strong relationship.

The Board believes that Whitaker’s expertise will be a significant boost for WDBS and its long-term aspirations for the continued growth of disability snooker around the world.

Nigel Mawer QPM, WDBS Chairman said: “On behalf of the WDBS team I am delighted to welcome Dr Chris Whitaker to the team.

“As both a senior figure in disability sport and a snooker enthusiast, Chris has significant skills and experience in areas that can directly benefit WDBS and our aspirations to help us reach more disabled people and allow them to play our sport.”

Dr Chris Whitaker said: “I am delighted to be joining the WDBS board and am excited to be able to help contribute to the development and growth of the sport.  From experience, I know what a transformative difference sport can make to and with disabled people and would like to see more disabled people playing snooker, more often.”
