The official WDBS rankings have been updated for the first time this season following the 2025 UK Championship held at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, England.
The WDBS ranking system includes individual ranking lists for each of the main classification groups, with players earning points from based upon their finishing position at designated ranking tournaments.
The rankings operate on a rolling two-year basis, with points earned during 2023/24 to be removed during the course of this season. At this revision points earned at the 2025 UK Championship were added with points from the 2023 Irish Open and UK Championship tournaments removed.
There are two changes at the top following the action in Leeds with Mohamed Faisal Butt and Luke Drennan returning to number one in Groups 6A and Group 8 respectively.
Despite his deciding-frame defeat to Scotland’s Alan Reynolds in the title match last weekend, Butt has narrowly edged back ahead of his rival by just 100 points. This is because while Reynolds has successfully defended his points earned at the 2023 UK Championship, Butt only reached the semi-finals at that event two years ago, meaning that by reaching the final in 2025, he has improved his tally by 2,400 points.
It is a similar story for England’s Luke Drennan in Group 8, who not only was defending 1,800 points fewer than Belgium’s Kristof De Bruyn coming into the event, but gained a further 3,600 points by reaching the semi-finals, with De Bruyn not present in Leeds.
The result sees Drennan back in top spot for the first time since March, with third placed Gary Taylor also closing the gap to the top two following his latest title win.
Elsewhere across the eight ranking lists, significant movers include UK Championship semi-finalist Archie Buskin, who climbs six places to 8th in Group 4, while David Moritz is up ten positions in Group 5 following his first final appearance.
Reece Matin is a new entry in Group 6B with the debut champion immediately installed in 10th position, while runner-up Ryan Pinnington moves up two to third position.
In Group 7, both Mike Gillespie and Ronnie Allen gain one position with Ireland’s Dylan Rees absent in Leeds and having lost maximum points following his victories at the 2023 Irish Open and UK Championship competitions.
The 2025/26 season continues with the second staging of the European Championships in Albania from 14-19 October 2025 – with entries open until Friday 19 October at WPBSA SnookerScores.
