World Disability Billiards and Snooker (WDBS) is excited to confirm the launch of its new WDBS Return to Sport Committee, with the panel having held its first meeting earlier this week.

First announced last month, the Committee is to be led by WDBS Director Bob Hill, with the support of fellow directors Mickey Chambers and Lisa Moore. They will be joined by a number of current WDBS players, selected from each of our main disability classification groups.

Through the creation of this group, it is our objective to be able to consider the needs of players with a wide range of disabilities, who may be specifically affected, or require adjustments unique to their group, to ensure that our planned return to competition is as safe and responsible as possible.

Initial members of the Committee are: Bob Hill (Chair), Mickey Chambers (G5), Lisa Moore, Tony Southern (G1), Joe Hardstaff (G3), Wayne Grew (G4), Christopher Goldsworthy (G6), Gary Gallacher (G7) and Tony Davies (G8)

Initial meeting

An initial Committee meeting took place on 12 May 2021, during which several key aspects of any future WDBS event were discussed.

At this stage it has been agreed that a further meeting will take place in early July, following Step 4 of the government roadmap (21 June), at which point we will have a better understanding as to the social distancing restrictions which may, or may not remain in place at this time.

All of us at WDBS hope that our players, officials and supporters are staying safe and we look forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible.
